Pim Pam Pum

Imagine three characters living in three teeny, tiny little houses. Imagine these cheerful friends discovering, all of a sudden, that they are characters in a play — and what is more, that everything they are depends on whatever the author decides. Imagine a spider who writes letters, a machine that does your homework, a tyrant and his henchmen, the moon, a bus driver, a giant meteorite, imagine… Pim Pam Pum.

Pim Pam Pum is a show conceived so that the child, in the role of spectator, discovers the different processes that make up a piece of theatre: set design, direction, playwriting, acting. We want the child not only to have an unforgettable time but to understand that theatre is a lovely «game» they can join in too. For that they need only one thing: imagination.

It was Vértigo Teatro’s first production, and Andrés Beladiez’s first professional work as a director. The dramaturgy is built on stories by Gianni Rodari: the letter from the spider taking her leave of the house, the homework machine paid for with a child’s brain, the tyrant who wants to charge a tax for looking at the moon. By August 1998 the company’s dossier counted 185 performances.
